Jamie Andrews is the best friend of Jude Harrison - who is hopelessly in love with her. Their close friendship faces many hurdles when she is catapulted into stardom after winning Instant Star.

Jamie is so excited when Jude wins the first season of Instant Star and is with her when she's set to start her music recording process. She shows her new producer Tommy Quincy, the song "24 Hours" she wrote about her friendship with Jamie. Tommy thinks the lyrics need to be re-written to refer to Jude only and not the "we" of Jamie, which angers both of them. He is upset when she gives in but they soon reconcile.
He decides to tell Jude how he really feels and confesses his love for her but Jude rejects it, wanting to stay best friends instead. He starts to become jealous when Jude spends most of her time with Tommy and rants to Jude's friend Kat about it. During this, Kat spontaneously kisses him in order to stop him talking about Jude. They continue to bicker before they give in to their secret feelings for one another and enter a relationship.
Neither of them wants to make things confusing for Jude and keep their relationship a secret. Jamie tries to tell her but struggles and Kat chickens out. Jude eventually finds out about them and acts okay but is secretly weirded out by her two closest friends dating. Jamie feels stuck in the middle and thinks he still isn't over his love for Jude. Things come to a head when Jamie must choose modelling in Kat's fashion show or helping Jude for a performance. He chooses Jude and Kat breaks up with him.
He tries his best to reconcile with Kat but she gives them both the cold shoulder. At this point, Jamie has begun managing an amateur rock band, Spiederman, who have booked regular gigs as Jude's backing band. When Jude's album is finished, he goes to Kat for advice because she hasn't asked him to go on tour with her yet.
Kat tells him he needs to be honest with his feelings for Jude, but that she will also break his heart. Jame is overjoyed when Jude asks him to join her on tour but as they are about to fly out he tells her he won't be going.
He kisses her and tells her that they need to spend time apart so she can miss him and hopefully see that they should be together. Jude is shocked but returns the kiss and agrees to spend time away and upon her return, start a relationship.
Jude comes back from tour and she and Jamie begin their romantic relationship. It hits the rocks when Darius acquires G Major Records and thus, acquires Spiederman Mind Explosion (the band Jamie manages) and forces Jamie out of the job. He begs Jude to stand by him and get Darius to re-hire him but with Jude's own career on the line, she chooses not to talk to Darius and Jamie breaks up with her.
He is later given a position of A&R at G Major records in order to recruit new talent for the label and thus, crosses paths with Jude. His first talent recruitment is Patsy Sewer, a heavy metal singer who at first clashes with Jamie due to him "working for the man" as she is very anti corporate, however, he believes Patsy is talented enough to go all the way and pushes her for a spot at G Major. They grow closer and end up sleeping together until eventually, becoming a couple.
Jamie still shows feelings for Jude, especially when he gets jealous after Jude and Spiederman start to date.
Jamie puts all of his focus into Patsy and along with Kwest, helps produce her first album.
Jamie is doing well at G Major and is in a committed relationship with Patsy, everything seems to be going well.
However, when Patsy soon rebels against G Major and her music contract as a whole, Jamie scrambles to save her commercial music career and his own job. Darius is annoyed that her music is too experimental for the general audience and Jamie tells Patsy they need something more accessible.
She performs a song for him and he loves it. However, after recording it, Jamie works with Kwest to edit the song and make it much more commercial sounding, which angers her and she feels her musical identity taken from her. Patsy soon spirals and drinks constantly and argues with Jamie after she storms out of recording more music. He tries to make things right with her but it only gets worse and she physically assaults him and drives away drunk.
Patsy dies after crashing her car and Jamie feels angry and becomes depressed. He blames Jude for Patsy's death which causes tension between them.
